Tracking California’s Native Pond Turtle in the Sespe Wilderness

🌿 Happy World Wetlands Day! 🌍 Today we are highlighting the work Turtle Conservancy biologists Nathanael Stanek and Kylie Rude conduct in the Sespe Wilderness. Wetland and riparian habitats within the Sespe Wilderness support the endangered Southwestern Pond Turtle and a wide range of native wildlife. Through field research and long term monitoring, Nathanael and Kylie gather critical data that helps guide conservation strategies and habitat protection across Southern California. Wetlands may appear quiet, but they are powerful ecosystems that filter water, support biodiversity, and sustain life throughout entire watersheds.
