►Oil filter locations have improved in recent years, and much of that is thanks to removable oil filter housings. However, the use of plastic housings has been less than stellar, as they tend to fail with age. That'll leave you with a high-pressure oil leak and force you to replace your oil filter housing. While that may sound daunting, it's perfectly repairable in your driveway at home. After many miles, the constant engine heat will damage the plastic, either warping or cracking it. A leak is the only symptom, though you may need to remove the engine dress cover to see it. The oil filter housing attaches to the engine via a few bolts. Once you are clear to remove the housing, it's straightforward to replace it. Be sure to have rags handy, as there will be oil drippings to clean up.
