Alternator component check, rebuild and bench test #1419

The final part of the series covering the diagnosis and repair of the faulty charging system on a 1992 Nissan Patrol GR fitted with the TD42 engine. Once the on-vehicle checks were complete it became clear the fault was within the alternator itself. Following removal a bench test was performed after which a strip down of the unit. In this episode I decide to complete all the internal component checks to camera, fit new brushes, rebuild the unit and perform a final bench test to confirm the repair as successful...
