What happens when a circle, a square, and a triangle decide to get dressed? Well, they turn into things! A few familiar shapes suddenly become something else entirely. The Shapes Got Dressed is one of my Glow Story experiments at Active Looking Lab. The idea was to take a simple picture book and see if I could make it easier to look at, easier to follow, and more accessible to children who might have trouble with ordinary picture books. I started with the shapes on a black background. One thing at a time. Big, bright, and not much else competing for attention. Then the shapes get dressed up and become familiar objects. It's a little visual surprise, and hopefully a reason to keep looking. This Glow Story was created with children and young adults with CVI (cortical/cerebral visual impairment) and learners with complex needs in mind. Others are welcome to enjoy it, too. There's more to play with in the app This YouTube video plays the story from beginning to end, but the interactive Glow Story gives you more choices. Start with simple shapes on black, or try the more detailed story scenes. Use the Practice section to explore the shapes and objects before reading. Adjust the pacing and visual settings. Turn narration on or off. Let the story turn pages automatically, or give the student control with a touch, a large button, or a switch. Maybe someone enjoys watching the shapes appear. Maybe they prefer the familiar objects. Maybe they want to turn the pages themselves. That's what I'd like to find out. *See what the app can do — and tell me what you'd change!* You can find The Shapes Got Dressed and other Glow Stories at: https://activelookinglab.com Questions, ideas, or something that didn't work quite right? Email: hello@activelookinglab.com If you try it with someone, I'd love to hear what caught their attention, what worked, and what I could do differently. I'm still experimenting with these books, and there's plenty left to figure out. #CVI #ComplexNeeds #AccessiblePictureBooks #GlowStories #ActiveLookingLab
