Like the main character himself, the Rogues Gallery of the Man of Steel was a work of many decades by many creators. Superman's early villains were gangsters and corrupt politicians, who were later replaced by the occasional mad scientist like Lex Luthor, who were followed by the funny, harmless villain with a gimmick. It was only in the silver age that the character got his first sci-fi-themed villains like Brainiac. It was more time still for the first appearances of now classic enemies such as Mongul and Doomsday. Each reflecting a particular phase of the hero. This is Superman's Rogues Gallery.
