Mac's European debut has been rough to say the least. Through his first 2 games he's averaging 11.5 pts on 7-24 shooting, 1 assist, 4 rebs, 3.5 turnovers in 18 mins per game. The first game he started, the second game he came off the bench. Though to be honest, it doesn't much matter, as the coach basically plays 9 guys about 20 mins each in shifts of 4-5 mins at a time. The games are tough to watch and feel like glorified pickup games at LA fitness. I have no idea what kind of offense they're running, or who they're running the offense through, it just looks like a free for all out there. The spacing of the NBA and G League is non existent, so drives to the basket are significantly more difficult. It's gonna be a tough season to get through, as I already lost most interest I had after the very first game. Today I watched NFL instead of the game, and moving forward I'll probably not watch any more games live. I'll just check the box score when it's over and scrub through the parts Mac is playing. No point in watching a 2 hour game to watch Mac play 18 mins and get 3 or 4 baskets and 1 or 2 assists. I'll still try to post the highlights, but it will be in batches of 2 or 3 games, since there's not nearly enough highlights in a single game to post by itself. Of course, if he has a great game here and there, I'll post that by itself, but even the "great" games are gonna be like 20 pts, 3 assists, in 22 mins. No more double or triple doubles, and no more 50, 40, or even 30 point games like before. The crazy part is, there are no good players on Mac's team and he's being regarded as a role player off the bench. Their best player so far has been Jassel Perez who played in the G League a few years back and averaged 6 ppg. The team they played today had 5 former NBA players on it and the talent gap was clearly seen as Mac's team lost by 40. So not only is he gonna be a bench player with marginal numbers, it'll likely be on one of the worst teams in the league. Some of the other teams in the league seem to play their best players 30 plus minutes and run the offense through them, but it's clear this coach is not going to go that route. Regardless though of Mac's role, he has to play better. 6 turnovers today, 3-14 shooting in the first game, 2 assists in 2 games, that's just not getting it done. I'm seeing other guys from the G League playing here and doing significantly better that weren't half the player Mac was over there. Hopefully he can figure things out soon. He's the 2nd highest paid player in the league, but it's just a 1 year contract, if he can't perform at a high level I find it hard to believe he'll get another big payday from any competitive league moving forward. He'll basically be limiting himself to a much smaller contract next year or going to China if he still wants to get paid.
