Can a 5 year old draw his grandfather on his birthday? Today, we are celebrating a jubilee for a grandfather who lives on the far side of earth. At first, my son started with a purple mustache, so we had to start again. We ripped another page from the notepad, reset the camera and off we went! In his young mind, every color is perfect and a true-world rendition can wait till later. Probably because I always tell him there are no rules when making art. He is simply drawing from memory and the slightly pixelated video images from the many Skype and WhatsApp calls he has witnessed with relatives over the years. If anything, this is like a birthday present that will last forever but also a diary of a child's technique. My son's control of the medium has grown in the past year and his artistic confidence is reaching new milestones everyday.
