How Big Is the Sun? ☀️ | The Scrapbook Crew | Sun Song for Kids

A giant Sun peeks into the page... and next to it, a teeny tiny blue dot. Is that our Earth?! Pip, Snip and Old Tuk float out into space to find out how big the Sun really is. The Sun is a star: the closest star to us! Other stars look tiny because they are very, very far away. Pip lines up Earths across the middle of the Sun (more than one hundred, just to go across!) and fills a jar with Earths: more than a MILLION could fit inside the Sun! Snip snips a paper Sun to see what's inside: there's no ground to stand on, because the Sun is a giant ball of hot, glowing gas, and the middle is the hottest part of all. Sunlight is super fast, but it still takes about eight minutes to get to Earth, where it keeps us warm and helps plants grow. And remember: never look right at the Sun, not even with sunglasses! Old Tuk remembers trying to count all the Earths that fit inside the Sun (or did he read about it?). Then everyone sings "Big Big Sun!" In this episode kids learn: • the Sun is a star, the closest star to us • other stars look tiny because they are very, very far away • more than one hundred Earths would fit in a line across the Sun • more than a million Earths could fit inside the Sun • the Sun has no ground: it is a giant ball of hot, glowing gas, and the middle is the hottest part • sunlight takes about eight minutes to reach Earth • sunlight keeps Earth warm and plants use it to make their food • never look right at the Sun, not even with sunglasses Chapters 0:00 A giant Sun! 0:14 The Sun is a star 0:51 A million Earths 1:15 No ground inside the Sun 1:39 Eight minutes of light 1:55 Thank you, Sun! 2:09 Tuk counts the Earths 2:29 Song: Big Big Sun! 3:51 What did we learn?
