🎲 There's a Mimic in My Backpack 🎲 A funny D&D bardcore song about a mimic, an adventuring party, and possibly the worst pet in tabletop RPG history There’s a Mimic in My Backpack is an original Dungeons & Dragons comedy song about the sacred fantasy RPG tradition of finding a horrifying monster and immediately deciding, “We’re keeping him” 🤣 We found our mimic in a treasure room disguised as somebody’s lunch He seemed harmless Mostly... Since joining the party, he’s eaten the cleric’s healing potions, the fighter’s enchanted sword ⚔️, the wizard’s wand 🧙‍♀️🪄, several other expensive magic items that nobody has completely forgiven him for... and eventually a lich’s phylactery 💀 So obviously we kept him 🤣 This bouncy fantasy folk and bardcore song is for D&D players, tabletop RPG adventurers, fantasy gamers, dice goblins, dungeon masters, and anyone who has ever watched their party adopt a monster that very clearly should not be a pet 🎲✨ Because sometimes the creature eating all your magical loot is a menace And sometimes he accidentally saves the kingdom 💀✨ 🎶🍺 Welcome to Twisted Tavern Tunes 🍺🎶 Grab a drink, roll initiative, and sing along with the chaos New bardcore D&D fantasy tavern music drops every Tuesday & Friday — subscribe and hit the bell so you never miss a song! Lyrics: We found him in a treasure room Disguised as someone’s lunch I said he’s just a little babe He bit me with a crunch I wrapped him in my traveling cloak And scratched beneath his lid We should have known that something strange Was stirring when he hid The cleric reached for healing draughts When goblins came to fight But every flask was empty And his tongue was glowing bright There’s a mimic in my backpack Eating everything that glows He won’t touch bread or salted meat But magic down it goes The party says we cannot keep A monster with a bite I only hug him tighter He’s still learning wrong from right The fighter drew her flaming sword To face a cave-troll king She raised the hilt and found instead A very soggy string He’d swallowed blade and enchantment And left the grip behind I said you know he’s teething dear You really must be kind The fighter reached to throttle him The mimic gave a squeak Then rolled upon his little back And licked her armored cheek There’s a mimic in my backpack Eating everything that glows He won’t touch bread or salted meat But magic down it goes The party says we cannot keep A monster with a bite I only hug him tighter He’s still learning wrong from right The wizard kept her wand inside A lockbox sealed with spells With runes of warding chains of gold And seven warning bells We woke to find him halfway through The wand still in his jaws The wizard cried that cost a year I said he has no paws They voted that he had to go Before he ate our gear He gave one tiny hiccup And grew antlers for a year So they tied their rings behind their backs And slept with boots held tight They counted every magic thing Before they slept each night But no one had the heart to leave That toothy little face So grumbling broke and underarmed They let him keep his place Then deep beneath a ruined keep A lich began to rise With graveyard fire around its hands And starlight in its eyes The cleric fell, the fighter dropped The wizard’s spell went wide I stood before my little babe With nowhere left to hide The lich raised up its phylactery And laughed above our doom The mimic sniffed the magic air And shot across the room He swallowed it in one great bite The lich began to crack Then burst apart in clouds of dust While he came trotting back There’s a hero in my backpack And they cheer him when he glows He ate the lich’s phylactery Because that’s what he knows The fighter calls him brave now The wizard holds him tight The cleric shares his bedroll And I remind them I was right There’s a mimic in our party With a bedroll and a name He gets a share of treasure now And glory just the same So hide your wands and magic rings And guard your loot at night He may have saved the kingdom But he still has an appetite He won’t eat bread He won’t eat stew He only wants what sparkles blue He saved us all We love him so But magic Down it goes Down it goes Down it goes Credits: Lyrics: Seraphine & Caden Ashford Composition: Draft created with SUNO.
