Strengthening Traditional Leadership for Gender Equality and Access to Justice in Nebbi District

In Nebbi District, FIDA-Uganda is working with traditional leaders to strengthen their capacity to promote gender equality, access to justice and the protection of human rights within their communities. Through training on gender-transformative approaches and access to justice, traditional leaders have developed community work plans to raise awareness on critical issues including teenage pregnancy, gender-based violence, land disputes and inheritance. The intervention is supporting traditional leaders to challenge harmful practices, engage communities on their rights and strengthen local responses to issues affecting women, girls and other community members.
