In this video, I go through the progressions of measuring an amplifier with a power-stepped CW stimulus, and arrive at a solution to measure both the amplitude linearity and phase linearity of an amplifier using a power-swept CW stimulus. Applications used: 1) SMW-K542 Baseband Power Sweep 2) FSW Spectrum mode 3) FSW I/Q Analyzer mode 4) FSW-K7 Analog Demod mode Timeline: 0:00 Introduction 0:28 Stepped RF Level in Zero Span Spectrum Analyzer mode - limited to 1ms/power level; amplitude measurement only 2:27 Stepped Baseband Level in Zero Span Spectrum Analyzer mode - limited by RBW; amplitude measurement only 3:22 Swept Baseband Level in Zero Span Spectrum Analyzer mode - limited by RBW; amplitude measurement only 4:36 Swept Baseband Level in I/Q Analyzer mode - limited by Analysis Bandwidth; amplitude and phase linearity measurement 6:37 Drawback of I/Q Analyzer mode - requires post-processing to compensate when generator and analyzer are not frequency locked 7:04 Swept Baseband Level in Analog Demod mode - limited by Analysis Bandwidth; amplitude and phase linearity measurement, immune to frequency difference between generator and analyzer
