Bangladeshi Worker Executed in Saudi Arabia | Family Demands Justice for Nazrul Islam

A heartbreaking case involving a Bangladeshi migrant worker has sparked serious questions about justice, legal representation, and diplomatic communication. 25-year-old Nazrul Islam, who travelled to Saudi Arabia in November 2022 to support his family, was reportedly executed on October 14, 2026, along with another Bangladeshi national, Sweety Akter. According to reports, both were arrested in Mecca over allegations of an indecent act inside a mosque and spent more than three years in detention before their execution. Nazrul's family claims they were not informed before the execution. His father is now appealing to the authorities to investigate the circumstances of his son's death and arrange the return of his body to Bangladesh at government expense. The incident has also raised questions about consular assistance and communication between Saudi Arabian and Bangladeshi authorities. Bangladesh's government has reportedly confirmed that its foreign ministry and diplomatic mission were not notified before the executions. Meanwhile, reports say Nazrul's aunt, Abeda Begum, died of a heart attack after learning the devastating news. Key Questions: Why was Nazrul Islam executed without his family being informed beforehand? Did he receive adequate legal assistance during the proceedings? Why were Bangladeshi diplomatic authorities reportedly not notified? Will the family receive answers and justice?
