In this special review episode of the CX Education Leadership Podcast, we look back at episodes 13–24 and draw together the biggest ideas, most useful frameworks and most challenging conversations from the series. Across these twelve episodes, one theme keeps returning: better business begins with greater humanity. We explore what this means in an era of AI, automation, rising customer expectations and workplace uncertainty. AI can be a powerful tool for removing effort, improving insight and increasing employees’ capacity to create value—but it is not a people strategy. Without human judgment, ethical governance and a clear customer purpose, AI risks scaling the very friction, mistrust and poor service it should help eliminate. The review revisits the idea that customer experience must benefit customers, employees and shareholders—the “triple win.” It challenges leaders to move beyond asking which jobs can be automated, and instead ask how technology can help people deliver better tangible, emotional, service and relationship value. We discuss responsible AI adoption, rapid feedback loops, the “customer zero” approach to testing technology internally, and why transformation should start with the desired outcome rather than the software. A major focus is the CXED hierarchy of customer expectations: safety, dignity, alignment, assurance and empowerment. These are the conditions a business must meet before it can claim to be genuinely customer-centric. Customers need to be safe, treated with respect, clear on the value exchange, kept informed and ultimately enabled to make progress. Memorable “wow moments” are a bonus; dependable, respectful delivery is the real basis of trust and loyalty. This review also connects employee experience directly to customer experience. Employees cannot create great customer outcomes when they are burned out, fearful, under-resourced or trapped in systems that prevent them from solving problems. Internal friction becomes external friction. The episode explores psychological safety, frontline empowerment, leadership visibility, cross-functional accountability and why leaders must experience their own customer journeys rather than rely only on polished reports and dashboards. From hidden airline costs, broken self-service systems and frustrating chatbots to misleading marketing and KPI-driven service failures, the conversations reveal how easily a customer journey can become an obstacle course. Good journey mapping should expose effort, handovers and ownership gaps, then help teams deliver a simple outcome in one interaction wherever possible. Finally, the review considers how to measure customer experience honestly. NPS and CSAT may be useful signals, but real evidence lies in behaviour: churn, repeat purchases, referrals, complaints, call volume, customer lifetime value, acquisition cost and first-contact resolution. Feedback only creates value when businesses close the loop, address root causes and prove that customers have been heard. Whether you lead CX, EX, marketing, sales, operations or AI transformation, this review of episodes 13–24 offers a practical, human-centred blueprint for building more trustworthy, valuable and sustainable businesses. 00:00 Review of CX Education Leadership Episodes 13–24 02:53 AI and Humanity: The Conversation So Far 12:59 Introducing the Customer Expectations Hierarchy 20:11 Safety, Dignity and the Foundations of CX 27:03 Has Customer Experience Lost Its Humanity? 37:59 AI Transformation: Start With the Outcome 49:26 Why Employee Experience Shapes Customer Experience 58:00 Internal Friction, Silos and Business Culture 01:02:38 Customer-Centred Leadership and Courage 01:11:42 Marketing Ethics and Creating Genuine Value 01:19:31 Turning Obstacle Courses Into Customer Journeys 01:29:27 Consistency, Churn and Moments of Magic 01:43:01 Service Recovery and Frontline Empowerment 01:50:04 Measuring What Customers Actually Do 02:00:21 The Big Lessons From Episodes 13–24
