0:05 4:00 [Salome's love, triumph and death] × [The last scene of 'The Man Between'] Movie cut this very final music part(4:15 ~) from Salome final scene, so I brought it and mixed with movie's final scene.(Real movie used different music for movie's final scene.) I think both characters(in movie and Opera) are under similar situations(especially at the end), so I made video this way. Salome is Princess of Judea who longs for freedom from her stepfather, King(Tetrarch) Herodes. She longs for Jochanaan(John the Baptist) and his love too. At Opera's very final scene, King Herodes and his soilders kill Salome. (Oscar Wilde originally wrote his Salomé in French. Richard Strauss saw the play in Lachmann's version and made this opera.) P.S. I heard Maria Cebotari was Strauss's favorite Salome, but my favorite Salome is Ljuba Welitsch. And I didn't see this clip on Youtube, so I upload this video. Of course, Maria Cebotari was truely great Salome. She was one of the greatest sopranos too. Brigit Nilsson(Strauss said Salome is 16 years old princess who has Isolde's voice. And Brigit Nilsson has Isolde's voice.), Emmy Destinn, Montserrat Caballé and so on's Salomes are great too.
