Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has warned that Kyiv faces a $27 billion defence funding gap, with much of the money needed for drones, missiles and military support. Zelensky said around a third of the funding, and potentially more, is linked to drone procurement for January through March, warning that failure to order and pay for drones in October and November could create “serious challenges” in January and February. He said Ukraine had discussed its needs with the European Union and International Monetary Fund, while urging the European Commission to accelerate the second tranche of a €90 billion support package.
