Explore Morelia, Michoacán, the City of Pink Stone, through a personal Mexico travel story about beauty, history, food, art, and life beyond reputation. In this @PatosPath video, I take a New Year road trip from Guadalajara to Morelia and discover a city alive with cantera rosa architecture, the Morelia aqueduct, the historic center, the cathedral, Callejón del Romance, Deseos Romeo, Mercado Revolución, Centro Cultural Clavijero, Casa de la Cultura, and Sunday plaza dancers.
This is not just a list of things to do in Morelia. It is a love letter to one of Mexico’s most beautiful colonial cities: a UNESCO World Heritage destination filled with street art, corundas, pozole, atole, carnitas, megaquesadillas, artisan markets, traditional crafts, public life, and quiet moments with Kaya.
Michoacán is often reduced to danger, cartel violence, and travel warnings, but my experience in Morelia revealed something more human: food cooked with care, history built in pink stone, art that holds grief, wishes tied to ribbons, and a city still moving, dancing, and surviving.
If you are planning travel in Mexico, looking for places to visit in Michoacán, or searching for what to eat in Morelia, come walk with me through Morelia, Michoacán, Mexico.
