Our absolute favorite part of the island is Skala Rachoni, located in the northwest. We absolutely adore the ancient olive groves that cover the hills around here. The sound of cicadas accompanies us from morning till night, and it’s a true joy to hear them. The beaches in Skala Rachoni are beautifully shaded by pine trees. There was a storm last night, which is why you see some seaweed on the shore, but it will be cleared away very soon.
Our top pick here is Glyfoneri Beach. A sunbed here costs just 5 Euros per day in 2026, but make sure to come early, ideally before 8:30 am. The bay’s water changes beautifully during the day, shifting between shades of light blue and turquoise. It’s very shallow for at least 30 meters out, which is ideal for families. The sunsets here are spectacular, and the taverna hidden right behind it is an absolute dream.
Marble Beach is a highly popular spot, artificially covered with tiny white marble pebbles. It’s crowded, expensive at 25 Euros per sunbed, and quite noisy. We preferred to visit it at sunset instead. Since the beach faces east, you won't see the sun directly setting, but the colors of the sea are absolutely magical.
We spent a lot of time at the beach in front of Gorgona Taverna. It is a relatively simple and narrow beach, but incredibly peaceful. There, the sunbeds are completely free, as long as you enjoy a meal at their restaurant. And to top off a perfect day, the sunsets here at Gorgona are absolutely breathtaking.
