Thinking of traveling Japan? You need to add this to your list! This is my review and breakdown of Shima Yamaguchikan and the Shima Onsen area of Japan. Shima Onsen is an Onsen Village that is only two hours away from Tokyo by train and very convenient to get to with the Shinkansen. It lies right in the mountains of Japan and is a perfect getaway from the craziness of Tokyo and other urban cities. If you are a traveler, you absolutely need to get out of the tourist hotspots like Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka. You will be amazed at what you'll find. While over-tourism is a hot topic with Japan right now, you won't notice it at Shima Onsen. It's peaceful and quiet, with some beautiful hidden gems! I hope this video can bring more awareness to these areas of Japan and convince travelers to really venture out. As more people migrate to urban cities like Tokyo in search of opportunity, my fear is that these beautiful traditional areas of Japan may end up turning into empty villages and there will be no one to take care of the history that clearly lives there. These areas of Japan might not exist in a generation or two ... but I hope not, not if we can give it a spotlight for people to discover it!
