A Day in the Life of a Song Dynasty Tea Master | Sleep Story | Ancient China

Tonight, you become a tea master in Kaifeng, capital of the Song dynasty, in the early twelfth century. You wake before dawn, draw water from your well, grind a cake of Fujian tea into fine green powder, and whisk it in a black hare's fur bowl until a white foam rises like snow. Through one slow, quiet day, you open your little tea shop, teach your young apprentice, walk through the busy streets of the greatest city in the world, hold a friendly tea contest with an old friend, listen to a storyteller, and close your shutters as the lanterns of Kaifeng begin to glow. Dim the lights, get comfortable, and let the soft sound of the whisk carry you to sleep.
