Not every day goes according to plan, and retirement has taught me to embrace the unexpected. I had planned an inter-station railway tour, but when I arrived at the railway station, I found the ticket office closed. My planned adventure seemed to have come to an unexpected stop. But I wasn’t going to let that spoil my day! Instead, I took a detour and decided to explore the city, enjoy the beautiful surroundings and make the most of the opportunity. Sometimes life doesn’t take us where we intended to go. But that doesn’t mean the journey has to end. One of the beautiful lessons of retirement is learning to be flexible, appreciate new experiences and keep moving forward.
