The Console That Raised Us: The Atari Story

Do you remember sitting on the shag carpet, illuminated only by the glow of a heavy CRT television, playing Atari until your hands hurt? Those were the golden days of gaming. It was pure magic. But what exactly happened to the console that raised us? In this mini-documentary, we take a nostalgic trip back to the 1980s to explore the incredible rise and the sudden, catastrophic fall of the early video game industry. From the wild, freewheeling days of Atari's founding to the infamous E.T. cartridge landfill hidden deep in the New Mexico desert, we uncover how corporate greed almost destroyed our favorite childhood pastime—and how it was miraculously saved from the brink of death. Grab a snack, get comfortable, and let's time-travel back to 1983.
