Can water be a star? Drip wants to be a STAR for dress-up day, but his star shape won't stay! Is he broken? 💧 Join Drip the water drop, Puff his invisible water-vapour friend, and Frost the ice cube, and play "What shape will Drip be?" Box or bowl? Tall bottle or flat dish? Star or heart? Then Frost has a cold trick, and a tall glass and a wide glass make Drip think twice: which one has more water? Guess, watch, and shout "RUNNY!" with them! 🖌️ Try it at home with a grown-up: fill a plastic cup to a line, pour it into a bowl and back, then into a tall cup. Is the water back on the line? Tip the water out when you're done. ⏱️ Chapters 0:00 Drip's star costume 0:13 Why water is runny 0:44 The game · Round 1: Box or bowl 1:20 Round 2 · Bottle or dish 1:45 Round 3 · Star or heart 2:21 Round 4 · Frost's ice-cube trick 3:08 Round 5 · Same amount? 4:08 Drip stays a star 4:40 Try it at home 👪 For grown-ups This episode is about liquids: water has no shape of its own, it takes the shape of whatever holds it, and it fills the container from the bottom up with a flat top. Pouring it into a different container does not change the amount (many young children think the taller glass holds more, which is perfectly normal at this age). Freezing makes water hard ice that keeps its own shape, and ice melts back into runny water when it warms up. Good questions to ask after watching: What shape was Drip in the box? Why did the ice stay a star? Did the tall glass really have more? 📚 Science sources (for grown-ups) • States of matter (a liquid takes the shape of its container; a solid holds its shape): NASA Glenn Research Center — https://www.grc.nasa.gov/www/k-12/air... • Liquids have a definite volume but no fixed shape: UNC FPG Child Development Institute, STEMIE — https://stemie.fpg.unc.edu/visual-cue... • Why young children think the taller glass has more (Piaget): NWTC via LibreTexts — https://socialsci.libretexts.org/Cour... • Preoperational stage and conservation of liquid: SUNY / Lumen Learning — https://courses.lumenlearning.com/sun... • Ice and melting: NOAA NESDIS, Water Cycle Activity Manual — https://www.nesdis.noaa.gov/s3/2025-0... • Ice temperature and melting: University of Illinois Physics Van — https://van.physics.illinois.edu/ask/... • Water safety with young children: American Academy of Pediatrics, HealthyChildren.org — https://www.healthychildren.org/Engli... #ScienceForKids #LiquidsForKids #TheDropples
