What is Kathmandu like before the city wakes up? I begin the day with a tour of my simple *$6 hotel room* before heading out at sunrise to explore the incredible **Durbar Square**, one of Nepal's most fascinating cultural and historical landmarks. As the morning unfolds, I witness locals lighting candles, burning incense, making offerings, touching sacred shrines, and carrying on traditions that have been practiced for centuries. Walking through the square at this hour feels like stepping into another world. Along the way, I stop for a hot cup of traditional Nepali chai before enjoying a couple of freshly fried street snacks for breakfast—the perfect way to start a day in Kathmandu. This is why I love slow travel by bicycle and on foot. The best moments aren't found in guidebooks—they happen when you slow down and experience everyday life.
