European Wild Cat Silent ghost among the green forest

European Wild Cat (Felis silvestris) – The wild ancestor of the domestic cat, which lives discreetly in the undergrowth throughout Europe. Larger build, thickly furred with blackish-grey mottles, weighs only a few kilos but is wonderfully agile, moving completely noiselessly hence the name 'forest ghost'. A lone hunter, chiefly feeds on rats, birds, lives in hiding and is very difficult to approach – the enigmatic symbol of unspoilt nature.
