Jesse Ventura’s Playboy Interview, Revisited

In 1999, Minnesota’s governor told Lawrence Grobel that if he could be reincarnated, he’d come back as a 38DD bra. He also called organized religion “a crutch for weak-minded people.” The Associated Press got the quotes before Playboy’s November issue reached newsstands, and Grobel’s phone started ringing at 4 a.m. By 7:30 there were satellite trucks outside his house, and he went on to appear on every network. Days later, a Star Tribune poll put Ventura’s approval at 54 percent, down from a record 73 in July.
