The Pheasant Tail Nymph is one of the most popular (and effective) pattern in use today. The Quasimodo PT is usually tied on a shorter, curved hook. This is Charlie Craven's recipe found in his influential 2015 work "Tying Nymphs." It's on a standard curved hook, with a bit of pearlescent flash over the body and thorax. Hook: #8-18 curved nymph or scud Thread: Brown Tail: Pheasant Tail tips Rib: Copper wire, small Body: Pheasant Tail fibers Thorax: Peacock herl Shell: Pheasant Tail fibers, with pearlescent tinsel over Legs: Pheasant Tail tips Savage Flies is a project (named after one of my homewaters, the Savage River in Western Maryland, US). I've been trout fishing for many years but have only been tying for the last couple and am learning more every week. If you have any pointers on techniques that would help, I would love to hear them in the comments. I've been posting new videos every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 1:00 pm EST
