FF7 Remake Arguments Exposed & Debunked: The Full Script

Arguing with FF7 Remake fans can be frustrating because they are the most dishonest fanbase in video game history. FF7R by Square Enix has a gaslight culture like no other. However, after debating with this loving & tolerant community for several years, I've noticed a few patterns in this toxic fan drama. Many run on the same Script, which I have laid out in this tweet and video. Study it, and you'll know what many are going to say before they even say it. Final Fantasy 7 (1997) by Squaresoft was one of the greatest Playstation games ever made, and it sadly got a false remake with FF7R. FF7 Rebirth ramped up the cringe to the max, and turned off millions. It also spawned the most dishonest fanbase ever, who will lie to your face that almost nothing has changed (despite the fact the main complaints are about how much has changed). Here is THE SCRIPT: “It’s not a Remake, it’s a Sequel” “It’s not a Sequel, it’s a Remake” “They didn’t change anything” “They had to change everything, or it’d be boring” “You wanted a Remaster, not a Remake” (lie) “You never played the OG” (you did) “You’re a fake fan” (because you don’t lap up any old slop with the FF7 label slapped onto it) “You’re a tourist” (you’ve been playing FF since the 90s) “They wanted to make FF7 a musical in 1997, but muh Hardware Limitations 💩” “‘Remake’ is a play on words ☝️🤓 Sephiroth is ‘remaking’ the story! 💩” (no one asked for this) “You’re just nostalgic” (nostalgia is what’s carrying these skinwalker games) “You’re just a hater” (after calling you the most hateful names imaginable) “Ragebait” (FF7R fans when they discover Different Opinions) "You're a grifter" (they don't know what the word means) “The OG was trash. This is better” (after calling you a fake fan) "It's 95% the same as the original" (no its not) "It's not a Multiverse. It's a Multiworld" (this makes no difference) "The OG is still there. Go play it" (Remake is still there. Go play it) "The original was just as silly, cringe and embarrassing" (no it wasn't. OG FF7 was famously mature and dark for its time) "It had to be 3 games, because the OG was 3 discs" (the original was 1 game) "It's the same people who made the original game" (the same people who made The Matrix 1 also made The Matrix 4) "It got great reviews" (so did Mixtape, Dragon Age: Veilguard and Assassin's Creed: Shadows. Reviews range from questionable to meaningless in this day and age) Posts Metacritic score (Yet Rebirth sold poorly. FF7R is like a movie that gets a bunch of Oscar nominations, but almost no-one sees it) "FF7 Remake Part 1 sold great" (that's because people thought it was going to be a real remake. When the truth came out, most dipped. When Part 1 had sold 7 mil copies, Part 2 sold 2 mil on launch. Followed by a 91% dropoff. That's a 60-70% drop in player interest) "Rebirth only sold poor because of PS5 Exclusivity" (if you think that's the only factor, you are willfully blind. Most people were unhappy with the Multiverse Sneakquel bait-n-switch. Also Rebirth has been out on PC for years. It didn't fix the sales.
