Today, I walk back toward her, the child who learned love had conditions, the faith that was already alive in her even then, the surrender that came when a cry was finally heard in the silence of the hurt. That faith had never stopped working. It had been gestating, held like a pregnancy, for God's perfect timing, just as a butterfly waits inside the chrysalis through a long winter, completing its metamorphosis in hidden time. The writing was part of that. Not a career I chose. Something I was guided to do, with and for the Author Who Holds My Pen. She is not lost. She is being birthed. And nothing is being wasted in the waiting. I am a writer, an educator, and a licensed mental health counselor, but more than any title, I am someone who has walked her own journey of healing.
