1978 Fender Telecaster Custom | A VERY Cool Vintage Tele! | Vintage Tuesdays at Gilbert Guitars

THIS is not your ordinary Telecaster! 🎸 Welcome back to Vintage Tuesdays at Gilbert Guitars! This week, we're getting our hands on a beautiful 1978 Fender Telecaster Custom and taking a closer look at what makes this late-'70s Fender such a fascinating and seriously playable vintage instrument. The Telecaster Custom was Fender's answer to guitarists looking for something with the unmistakable attack of a Telecaster, but with a little more muscle and versatility. This model combines the classic Telecaster bridge single-coil with Fender's distinctive Wide Range humbucking pickup in the neck, giving players a much broader tonal palette. The original Wide Range pickup was designed by legendary pickup innovator Seth Lover, the same man who had previously pioneered the humbucking pickup at Gibson. And as you'll see in this episode... This 1978 Tele Custom isn't just a cool piece of Fender history. It's a GREAT PLAYER'S GUITAR! Jeff and Timmay dig into the guitar, play it through its paces and show us exactly why these vintage Tele Customs continue to attract players and collectors. So turn it up and come take a trip back to 1978!
