The Issue with Winter Landscape Photography

Perhaps the most difficult yet most rewarding season for landscape photography occurs during the winter months. I for one love the simplicity that a fresh blanket of frosty snow creates for a composition, but there are quite a few challenges and issues to overcome related to cold weather photography in order to create these magical images. In this video, I review the four main issues I’ve encountered related to winter landscape photography. Some of these issues are regarding your own personal comfort while on location and others have to do with camera settings and post processing challenges to overcome. One of the most difficult aspects of winter landscape photography has to do with how to properly expose snow within your image, however none of these issues are super difficult to solve for as long as you’re aware of the fact that they exist. Some of these obstacles are common sense, but others escaped me for quite awhile until it was brought to my attention, and that’s what I’m hoping you’ll get out of this week’s video.
