Learn how to use the Explore tool in ArcGIS Pro to click on raster cells and read their values in the pop-up window. The example uses a flow accumulation raster and aerial imagery to find the flow accumulation threshold at the head of perennial flow in tributary valleys. That threshold is a key step in stream network delineation. In this video: • Set the Explore tool to return pop-ups only for the layer selected in the Contents pane • Read raster cell values in a docked pop-up • Toggle the raster off to check the imagery for water in the channel, and tell water apart from shadow • Record the flow accumulation value at the upstream limit of perennial flow • Why you should sample 10 or more tributaries across the watershed, and how to spot outliers such as spring-fed channels Chapters 0:00 Intro 0:31 Flow accumulation raster and symbology 1:31 Checking imagery for perennial vs. ephemeral flow 2:16 Setting up the Explore tool and reading cell values 3:22 Next tributary: water or shadow? 6:11 Recording the value at the head of perennial flow 7:02 Sampling across the whole watershed Lightning GIS is my YouTube channel for quick GIS tutorials and other helpful GIS information.
