JET SKI WIPEOUT Goes VERY WRONG | St Francis Bay Surf What started as a normal day filming surfing at St Francis Bay quickly turned into something very different. I was filming Stevie Sawyer and a couple of St Francis Bay surfers when I noticed a jet ski with three people on board entering the surf from a river mouth. A few minutes later, the three riders were in the water and the jet ski had stalled. They managed to get back onto the ski, but with the engine still off they suddenly found themselves directly in the path of a breaking wave — with no power to get out of the way. What happened next was caught on camera. This St Francis Bay jet ski incident could have ended much worse. The combination of a river mouth, breaking waves, a stalled jet ski and people in the impact zone created a seriously dangerous situation. I’m not posting this video to criticise the people involved. I actually hesitated before uploading it. But if this footage makes someone think twice about entering unfamiliar surf conditions, understanding river mouths, or using a jet ski in breaking waves, then hopefully something positive can come from it. The ocean can change in seconds. If you're unfamiliar with an area or don't have the experience to deal with the conditions, don't take the risk. Watch the footage and see what happened.
