Doda Case: Body Taken for Last Rites after PDD forms Probe Committee, Withholds Official’s Salary.

FIR Registered in 27-Year-Old Labourer’s Death; Committee Asked to Submit Report Within Two Days DODA, JAMMU AND KASHMIR: Following the death of a 27-year-old labourer due to electrocution in the Chiralla area of Doda district, an FIR has been registered and the Power Development Department (PDD) has initiated departmental action in connection with the incident. According to department officials, a committee has been constituted to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death and has been directed to submit its report within two days. The department has also attached the PDD official who was present at the spot to the Doda PDD office and withheld the official’s salary, officials said. These developments came after family members and local residents gathered outside the District Hospital mortuary, demanding a time-bound inquiry and action against the officials concerned. Some residents also referred to a similar incident from several years ago, alleging that no action had been taken by the department at that time. Following the registration of the FIR, the formation of the inquiry committee and the departmental action against the concerned official, the deceased’s body was taken for the last rites. The departmental inquiry is expected to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and determine responsibility, while further action will depend on the findings of the committee and the investigation.
