Exploring Oregon’s Lumber Industry Producing 5.1 Billion Board Feet Near the Pacific Coast

Recently we headed out to explore Oregon’s massive lumber industry near the Pacific Coast, where vast forests, sawmills, logging roads, rail lines, and highways support one of America’s largest wood-producing regions. Oregon produces around 5.1 billion board feet of lumber, making it one of the leading lumber-producing states in the country. Much of Oregon’s lumber begins in its forests, where trees are harvested and hauled by logging trucks to sawmills across the state. At these mills, logs are debarked, sawn into boards, dried, graded, and prepared for shipment to construction markets throughout the United States. In this video, we travel through Oregon’s lumber-producing regions and follow the process from harvested logs to finished boards.
