Mystery fossil find investigation

When they had worked on this road, a bunch of the overburden had been pushed over on to the side of the hill which is where I found this mystery piece of Cretaceous material. I thought I would show my process of figuring out what it is. If I hadn't done an investigation first before cutting into it, I could have destroyed an important fossils.
