InDeepAnDance 2009: The Video

Golden oldie! My "official" YT channel is no more, and this was the only vid worth saving tbh. Fun to revisit, even if it was filmed with a potato. It's also the only video of me as a dj. There was other material out there at some point (I believe from the gig in Bratislava) but that disappeared and is probably no longer among us. Maybe for the better ;). For this video we did practically everything ourselves: Laura came up with the idea and was part of the crew that set all the stuff up. I remember a few summer evenings we all went out with a bucket of wallpaper paste and plastered our A1- and A3-sized posters all over IJmuiden and Haarlem. Unfortunately for us, we were doing our show at the very same time Luminosity At The Beach was on, so of course all trancelovers went there and not to our little party. But it was still a great experience! I ended up as the creative director/dj/vj/graphic designer/allrounder: designed the tickets, the promo stuff flyers and cards, and got it all organised for the night (including CREW-lanyards, a safebox for location sales of tickets, the whole lot). Then the show itself: the lights on the trusses were set to automatic response to the music, but the graphics in the background I made with Resolume Avenue, and Sjoerd was on the laptop to the (dj's) right of the booth in a little dark spot. When he was off duty for a bit, I clicked on to the next transitions myself. Very neat program. Didn't look shabby at all, really! We didn't sell many tickets, barely enough to cover the costs of the whole thing, but in the end we were still able to donate a symbolic amount out of our own pockets to the charity Laura wanted: this whole thing was a dedication to her mother who had passed away from cancer a year earlier. So aside from a great party at the beach, it was also a celebration of life, in past, present and future.
