With the cylinder head off the bike, thought it was a good chance to show folks the cam lobe positions and cam timing marks. This is off my 2015 R1. Nothing wrong with the bike. Just doing a valve adjustment and thought I'd remove the head and do a full valve job and piston clean while I had the bike apart this much. The cylinder head on this gen R1 can be removed without dropping the engine. The timing marks indicate 105 degrees before TDC on cylinder #1. Not TDC. At 105 degrees there is no valve spring tension in the intake cam and only cylinder #2 valves are slightly compressed on the exhaust cam. This is the least amount of pressure on the cams in the firing sequence which is 1-3-2-4 on this cross plane engine.
