The Versailles of Italy: Inside the Royal Palace of Caserta

Just north of Naples stands one of the largest royal palaces in Europe: the Royal Palace of Caserta. In 1752, Charles of Bourbon, king of Naples, commissioned the architect Luigi Vanvitelli to build a palace worthy of his dynasty's power. We walk through the "telescope" corridor and climb the monumental grand staircase, perhaps the most impressive in the world. Then we visit the Palatine Chapel, still marked by World War II bombing, the lavish royal apartments and throne room, and the small but exquisite court theater. Finally, we step out into the park: an avenue of fountains and cascades almost three kilometers long, an English garden with artificial Roman ruins, and the Bath of Venus. The Royal Palace of Caserta is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. 📍 Chapters 00:00 Introduction to Naples and the Bourbons 02:05 The Royal Palace of Caserta 05:01 The facade and main entrance 06:50 The grand staircase 09:17 The Palatine Chapel 10:33 The royal apartments 14:49 The court theater 17:03 The park and its avenue of water 22:02 The Italian and English gardens 25:30 Farewell _________________________________________________ 🎥 Welcome to our channel!
