Learn from the Legends: Dr B.Krishna Rau

Dr. Bhimanakunte Krishna Rau is one of the living legends in the field of surgery in India. After being a meritorious student during his under graduation, he did MS in General surgery and went on to learn endoscopy abroad. He came back to India and introduced endoscopy in Madras where it was non-existent till that point of time. He is credited with the honor of performing the first ERCP and CBD stenting in India. He has taught the trade of endoscopic interventions to a host of surgeons and physicians. He has the unique honour of being one of the only two surgeons in India who were presidents of both ASI (Association of surgeons of India) and ISG (Indian Society of Gastroenterology), a physician's domain.
