History of the Tashkent metro 1973 - Construction of the metro began. November 6, 1977 - the first metro line in Tashkent, the Chilinzor line, was opened to the public. 1984 - The Uzbekistan line was opened. 2001 - The Yunusobod line began operating. 2020 - The first stations of the above-ground Halqa(Circle) metro and the Sergeli line were opened. The Tashkent metro is the first metro system in Central Asia.
