A dance that holds a very personal place in my heart. I performed this solo to Yasmine - Hal in Marrakesh, Morocco, during a period of my life that was emotionally very difficult for me. This character, this dance, and everything behind it are a part of me. Every time I return to this performance, it brings back bittersweet emotions. Dance has always been one of the ways I process and live through what is happening in my life. I rarely create pieces that are simply about movement. There is usually something underneath - an emotion, an experience, a part of myself that needs a voice. And this dance was no exception. What makes these memories especially bittersweet is the contrast. I was going through a difficult time, while those days in Marrakesh were incredibly beautiful, magical and filled with light.
