Something about Six Flags Great Adventure just feels… off. This park has some of the best roller coasters in the world — but at the same time, parts of it feel weirdly empty, outdated, and honestly kind of unsettling. From strange theming choices to random quiet areas and rides that feel like they don’t belong, it creates a really unique atmosphere you don’t get at most parks. I visited this park as a kid and have fond memories of seeing massive roller coasters that weren’t available near my hometown in New Hampshire. On more recent visits, I’ve found the contrast between elite rides and unimpressive attractions to create a strange mix of worlds. Even the area around the park adds to it. There aren’t many restaurants or amenities you’d expect nearby.
