PSS FIELD RECORD 004 // THE DOWNWARD ARRAY A routine terrestrial signal survey at a decommissioned receiving station in the high desert. Field operative M. Vale was dispatched after the station’s parabolic receivers registered a continuous carrier at negative elevation. Every dish had been redirected toward the ground, despite no recorded control activity. At 20:11, a transmitted test pulse returned before the station finished sending it. At 43:11, motor power was disconnected. The array continued changing its bearing. Pelican Signal & Survey Terrestrial Signals Division “We map what moves.” Instrumental borderland jazz fusion, baritone surf guitar, cumbia percussion, Anatolian saz, muted brass, pedal steel, dub bass and buried electrical signals—a 51-minute soundtrack for deep work, studying, late nights and unexplained measurements.
