Tulip makes a drum sound like it was constructed centuries ago, with emphasized mid- and low-end frequencies. The sound is often described as breathy, fat, and focused. The bearing edges are cut by hand, checked on a machinist's grade granite flat that is true to 1/10,000th of an inch. Low-mass brass lugs are installed along the nodal point of the shell, causing the intrinsic vibrations of the shell to be unhampered by any hardware. This design adds a noticeable amount of shell sound into each hit - not just the head. Cam-Action snare wires let you really crank up their tightness without choking the bottom head, and they'll tune to medium or low settings just as well. The brass throw-off lever is elegantly smooth, disengaging quietly. The Clear Gloss finish on this drum adds a beautiful shine to the lightly-colored wood.
