What is Switch Bounce and How to Debounce – ATM | Digi-Key Electronics

Switch bounce or “ringing” can cause some serious issues with connected circuitry. Logic or digital circuits view this mechanical bounce as the switch being engaged multiple times in very short succession resulting in unreliable input data. Using various external components, switch bounce can be overcome before the signal reaches data collection points. Latch and RC debounce circuits are demonstrated in this video.
