Canning News | মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর কড়া নির্দেশেও ফিরছে না হুঁশ। চাঁদার জুলুম বরদাস্ত নয় আগেই হুঁশিয়ারি শুভেন্দুর।মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর হুঁশিয়ারির পরেও ক্যানিংয়ে চাঁদার জুলুম। চাহিদা মতো টাকা না দেওয়ায় লরি ভাঙচুরের অভিযোগ। রাতে রাস্তা আটকে চাঁদা চাওয়ার অভিযোগ। চাঁদা না দেওয়ায় সিমেন্টের লরিতে ‘ভাঙচুর’। দাবি মতো টাকা না পেয়ে চাবিও ছিনিয়ে নেওয়ার অভিযোগ। চাবি ছিনিয়ে নেওয়ায় রাতভর মাঝরাস্তায় লরি। সকালেও অবরুদ্ধ ক্যানিং থেকে বাসন্তী যাওয়ার রাস্তা। ক্যানিং থানায় অভিযোগ দায়ের লরিচালকের। লরিচালকের দাবি, ৫০০ টাকা চাঁদা চাওয়া হয়। ২০০ টাকা দিতে রাজি হলেও চোটপাটের অভিযোগ। এত আস্পর্ধা কীভাবে, প্রশ্ন স্থানীয়দের। একই প্রশ্ন আমাদেরও। আগেই চাঁদার জুলম ঠেকাতে হেল্পলাইন চালু পুলিশেরও। তারপরেও চাঁদার দাবি জুলুমবাজির কীভাবে? Yet, despite the Chief Minister’s warning, alleged extortion has surfaced again in Canning. A cement truck was allegedly vandalised after the driver refused to pay the demanded amount. The truck was reportedly stopped on the road at night and money was demanded. When the driver allegedly refused to pay the extortion money, the cement truck was vandalised. The truck keys were also allegedly snatched after the driver failed to pay the demanded amount. As a result, the truck remained stranded in the middle of the road throughout the night. Even in the morning, the Canning–Basanti road reportedly remained blocked. The truck driver filed a complaint at Canning Police Station. According to the driver, Rs 500 was demanded as extortion money. Although he agreed to pay Rs 200, he alleged that he was subjected to intimidation and heckling. Local residents are questioning how such audacity is possible. We are asking the same question. The police had already launched a helpline to curb extortion and roadside intimidation.
