Most pregnant women are scheduled to have a routine ultrasound in their doctor's office around 20 weeks of pregnancy. This is the time when your baby is big enough that they can see all of the baby's vital organs and they want to make sure that they're growing well and properly and make sure there aren't any issues or concerns that need to be addressed or known about. Incidentally it's also the time when you get to find out if you're having a boy or a girl. That's one of the most exciting parts about this ultrasound for parents because then they get to find out what they're going to have. The gender can actually be seen a little bit earlier than 20 weeks, usually around 16 weeks it's pretty definitive, it's either a boy or a girl. Up until then it's a little bit fuzzy and a girl might turn into a boy. You kind of have to wait until about 16 weeks to see it for sure. Some doctor's offices will offer gender checks at 16 weeks for a fee. You can check with your doctor to see if this is a service they provide. Other than that it's usually around 20 weeks. Good luck with everything. If you have any other questions for me, feel free to ask them on our Facebook page at Facebook.com/IntermountainMoms and recommend us to your friends and family too.
