I Turned a Voice Memo Into a Metal Song (Use This Process!)

Do your riff ideas turn into songs? Or do they rot on your phone? Metal songwriting can be a struggle. In this video, I walk through my exact songwriting process for taking a quick iPhone guitar idea and developing it into a structured demo ready for your band, producer, rehearsal room, or recording session. If your phone is full of unfinished riffs, voice memos, and guitar-video ideas that never become songs, this workflow is designed to fix that. I show you how to get riff ideas into your DAW quickly, choose the right tempo, program a drum groove, track demo guitars, identify the role of the riff, and continue developing the arrangement until you have a usable song foundation. This is a practical songwriting process for metalcore, hardcore, deathcore, modern metal, and heavy bands—but the framework works for any guitarist who wants to finish more songs instead of collecting endless riff clips. 🎚️ Work With Me: https://riffhavenaudio.com/work-with-me 🎸 Axe Tracking Blueprint (FREE): https://go.riffhavenaudio.com/blueprint 🖥️ Riff Writing Template Video:    • Write Riffs Faster With This Template!   00:00 The reason most riffs never become songs 00:25 A repeatable path from riff idea to demo 00:53 The rule that stops ideas from disappearing 01:21 Get the riff into the DAW before overthinking it 01:55 Finding the tempo that makes the riff work 02:44 Free guitar-tracking guide 02:57 Letting the drums reveal the groove 03:18 Why demo guitars need a different mindset 04:04 The question that gives a riff direction 04:17 Deciding what the riff is supposed to become 04:42 How to uncover the next section 05:02 Hearing the finished songwriting sketch 06:35 What to do once the demo exists 06:51 The next step before recording your song 🤘 Follow me on social media: Instagram:   / riffhavenaudio   🎶 Music I've Worked On: https://riffhavenaudio.com/#row-rxenu... #Songwriting #Metalcore #GuitarRiffs
