🚨 Pontiac Grand Prix Pursuit — Kansas City, Missouri (September 16, 2025) A Missouri State Highway Patrol corporal observed a maroon 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix with expired Missouri registration traveling southbound on Interstate 49 near Blue Ridge. When emergency lights were activated for a traffic stop, the driver — Robert E. Sanders — fled onto city streets, initiating a pursuit. The trooper discontinued direct pursuit once an MSHP helicopter arrived overhead. Helicopter crews maintained visual contact and directed responding officers while Sanders continued driving through Kansas City. Officers reported Sanders repeatedly ran stop signs and red lights, drove into oncoming traffic to pass vehicles, and nearly caused multiple collisions. The helicopter tracked the Pontiac at approximately 80 mph in mostly 35 and 45 mph zones. During the pursuit, Sanders entered a secure parking lot near the Cerner campus area after striking a traffic cone. Investigators also reported that Sanders passed a woman holding a small child while exiting a vehicle and later drove past a school bus at a high rate of speed. The pursuit ended when the Pontiac stopped in the front yard of a residence in Kansas City. Sanders fled on foot but was later located at a nearby residence and taken into custody.
