Ten of the Universe's best galaxies drift across the screen in slow, silent succession — a curated tour of the best galaxies in the Universe, in 4K.
Each image lingers for ~6 minutes, wrapped in a gentle cinematic drift and soft crossfade transitions. The full cycle of ten repeats four times, so each galaxy returns once per hour. No jarring cuts. No noise. Just the quiet majesty of island universes, one after another.
The program (repeats 4× across 4 hours):
M 101 — Pinwheel Galaxy — 170,000 light-years across, nearly twice the Milky Way, 21 million light-years away in Ursa Major
M 106 — The Megamaser Galaxy — 23 million light-years away, water vapor megamaser pinning down cosmic distances, ghostly extra arms in radio and X-ray
M 31 — The Great Andromeda Galaxy — 2.5 million light-years away, the nearest major galaxy to the Milky Way, home to roughly 1 trillion stars
M 33 — The Triangulum Galaxy — ~3 million light-years away, one of the farthest objects visible to the naked eye, star-formation rate 10× higher than Andromeda
M 51 — The Whirlpool Galaxy — 31 million light-years away in Canes Venatici, the first galaxy ever recognized as a spiral
M 63 — The Sunflower Galaxy — flocculent spiral with patchy, petal-like arms, 27 million light-years away in Canes Venatici
M 81 — Bode's Galaxy — 12 million light-years away, grand-design spiral 96,000 light-years across, anchored by a supermassive black hole 70 million times the Sun's mass
M 94 — The Cat's Eye Galaxy — face-on spiral with a rare double ring, 16 million light-years distant in Canes Venatici
NGC 5907 — The Splinter and Knife Edge Galaxies — ~50 million light-years away in Draco, a razor-thin edge-on spiral, one of the flattest galaxies known
NGC 7331 — The Milky Way's Distant Twin — ~43 million light-years away in Pegasus, almost identical in size, mass, and structure to our own galaxy
Designed as a background, screensaver, digital art, or ambient companion for sleep, study, meditation, or quiet focus.
